Installation of a NIBE air source heat pump can lead to your energy consumption for heating being reduced by up to 50%, in comparison to direct electricity heating systems.
Choose a NIBE air source heat pump for either new builds or retro-fit. These heat pumps can be installed on almost any kind of terrain and come in a range of sizes to suit small, medium or large homes and even light commercial buildings.
They can be docked together to produce a maximum of 180kW. You don't need a large amount of land either because NIBE air source heat pumps only require 150mm clearance from the wall (if placing it against a wall) and 1 metre of free space in front of the unit.
A heat pump is an electrical device that extracts heat from one place and transfers it to another. The heat pump is not a new technology; it has been used in Sweden and around the world for decades. Refrigerators and air conditioners are both common examples of heat pumps.
Heat pumps transfer heat by circulating a substance called a refrigerant through a cycle of alternating evaporation and condensation (see Figure 1). A compressor pumps the refrigerant between two heat exchangers. In one heat exchanger, the evaporator, the refrigerant is evaporated at low pressure and absorbs heat from its surroundings. The refrigerant is then compressed en route to the heat exchanger, the condenser, where it condenses at high pressure. At this point, it releases the heat it absorbed earlier in the cycle.
On a humid winter day there can be a lot of condensation under your heat pump which is at risk of freezing. It is very important that one considers drainage when installing. More tips about installation are available in “Installation and Maintenance Instructions”.
In order to used glycol in the outdoor section it means that you need to have it in the whole system, but this can be avoided by an intermediate heat exchanger. However, an intermediate heat exchanger means smaller savings and more expensive investment.

The position of the outdoor air source fheat pump has no great bearing other than the distance to the inner section/electric boiler. This distance should be kept as short as possible to prevent heat losses.
